The town of Berkeley Springs is located in Morgan County West Virginia and is known for its natural mineral springs, world class fine dining, many streets filled with shops, full-service spas and more than one-hundred lodging choices from elegant bed and breakfasts and historic inns to cabins and resorts. The town of Berkeley Springs also offers many outdoor recreational adventures such as golf, hiking, biking and swimming. Berkeley Springs is a getaway for all seasons and tastes with annual festivals, live music and theater to add to the many things to do in the area. The community remains a popular resort and vacation destination and the focus of second-home development and retirement living.


History of Berkeley Springs WV

The mineral springs and healing properties of the water were found in 1747 and designated a national spa by George Washington. In 1776, Washington’s family and friends drew up a plat of 134 lots, named the streets, and incorporated The Town of Bath. Later to become the Berkeley Springs State Park in which protects the spring and the surrounding historical landmarks. George Washington named the town Bath, after a similar city with the same name in England.
